The speaker of parliament, Hon. Rose Mukantabana calls on the committee that was tasked to follow up Rukarara project to explain to the parliament, why they presented half baked report.
This was revealed by the madam speaker in a press conference as both parliamentarians and senators close second semester of parliament activities.
“As PAC summoned 11 people involved in Rukarara project, also the committee which presented half baked report should explain for the parliament over unfinished tasked they conducted” Hon. Rose Mukantabana, the speaker of parliament says.
She also added that people should not be deceived that someone intimidated the committee but it was the parliament initiative to find the truth.
Normally when the parliament ends its activities, both chambers explain the achievements made in the semester to the journalists, who inform the public at large.
The second semester had lasted for 2months from June, 6th –August 6th, the chambers of deputies passed 19 laws, evaluated 13 draft bills and denied 3 drafts because of not having clear vision according to the deputies.
On the other, the chamber of senate voted for 10 laws and accepted 2 draft bills.
However both presidents of parliament and senate reiterated that laws which are being passed are very many because of Rwanda’s history and its integration in EAC bloc.
The speaker explained that when Rwanda joined EAC bloc had to change laws and introduce new laws that go with the integration process for the good of citizens.
The legislators will resume their work in October after two months of vacation.
